Northwest Rescue

My freshman year college roommate Denise recently moved from the Windy City to the Pacific Northwest along with her husband and two adorable children.   They bought a new house, and as is typical, they are now struggling to make their existing furniture work in the space.  I offered to do a little design consultation for her from afar to help her out with the room. Here is what her family room / kitchen looks like now:

Sunday night was a mini design charette for me and I came up with two layouts.

And three schemes using their existing brown leather sofa. The second sofa will be moved to another room.  I suggested adding a new chair so that not everything is so matchy. And a touch of white ties into the kitchen cabinets and freshens up the look.

Denise and the fam like the coloration of Scheme 2 and 3 and Plan option 1 but want to save a little dough and keep their brown leather chair. So now that we have a direction, I'll work on completing a more comprehensive scheme for them to implement!
