Fiberglass Wicker

Friday, May 27, 2011

So if you recall, our breakfast room looks like this  I think I have decided to do white cabinets and maybe grey or charcoal walls.
We are getting this tulip-style round table from CB2 delivered this weekend.
I would like to eventually put in a L-shaped bench seat against the window and the wall.  We would then need two fun chairs to put at the table to complete the look. No, I am not keeping the black leather deals that I got from my old office. They could be nice to paint and reupholster, but the way these babies are constructed they are not a DIY job. So craigslist, here they come.  Now, on to the new chairs. I think some fiberglass wicker numbers in a fun color could be just what the doctor ordered.  Beach Bungalow 8 recently featured them over on her blog and had some fun concept images:

My friend Leigh forwarded me two manufacturers of fiberglass images.  Their images are not quite so fun - well perhaps fun in a retro / ironic sort of way. But the pricing seems pretty reasonable.

Hi Friends!

Thursday, May 26, 2011

Sorry I've been so absent lately. Been rather busy these few weeks with a trip to Vegas to show my new hardware line, accept my Boutique 18 award, see other new fabulous products, catch up with old friends etc.....and then a baby moon in Carmel (forgot my camera, but hope to have some photos to post from friends soon).

Next on the docket will be a Palm Springs Bachelorette (can't wait to do some antiquing and check out the great hotels that I keep hearing about) as well as a NorCal camping, cheese-mongering, wedding partaking tour.  So the blog posting will most-likely be sparse, and I apologize in advance.  But let me know if there are any new amazing things out there to blog about and I'll try to post.  Here is a picture that a coworker took of me and Inlight CEO Lindsay Lau at her booth introducing my hardware.

Hardware

Tuesday, May 17, 2011

Hi Everyone!  I apologize for the lack of posts recently. It's been crazy at work and I'm off to HD (the Hospitality Design Trade Show) in Vegas tomorrow where my new hardware lines Nest Studio for Inlight will be launching. Called Facets and Transparencies respectively they are a play on shapes and the solidity of brass and glass. Here's a little preview. Wish me luck!

Aren't these just about the cutest things ever? My friend Leigh sent them to me.  The baby has not yet left the womb and I'm already dressing him for walking.

Missoni for Target

Monday, May 9, 2011

Habitually Chic just announced that fashion powerhouse Missoni is next on the lineup for Target's designer series. After being underwhelmed by Calypso's collection that just came out at Target, I'm curious to see if they can redeem themselves with Missoni's line.

Happy Mother's Day

I know it's still Saturday in the US but since my mom lives in Hong Kong, I'm posting this for her time zone.
Happy Mother's Day to the best Mom ever!

Scott and I are excited to announce that TBD (The Baby Davis) is on his way. We found out on Wednesday that we are having a boy.  He is due on Oct 28!  Various naming conversations have ensued, not with much success.  Thus far we have only come up with a whole bunch of offensive acronyms and ridiculous eponyms.  Commander Davis, Davis Davis, Flava Davis anyone? As we spend the next six months trying to think of more innocuous agreeable names to call our child, I plan to continue blogging, maybe throwing in a tidbit here and there about fun baby and nursery items.  The Eagle's Nest will by no means be turning into a baby blog (I'll point you to those if you're interested) but we are excited to be feathering out nest and adding one more inhabitant to our little flock.

***Photo above is my attempt at showing my family what they were seeing other than a grey blob.  TBD was laying on his side looking at the camera.

Kitchen thoughts?

Wednesday, May 4, 2011

So this is what our kitchen looks like currently.
Future renovations include replacing the contractor floor tiles, adding a hood over our awesome vintage stove, getting a new fridge, replacing the counter tops (white carrara perhaps?), putting in a subway tile backsplash, new lighting (ugh, it's so dim) and adding a window seat in the breakfast nook.  And I've got plans for a Saarinen style tulip table and new chairs coming soon.  In the meantime a coat of paint will have to do the job.  I've been following a few blogs where folks have had the black vs. white cabinet debate. I too am having a similar issue.  I'm thinking I may go grey on the walls.  White cabinets?  Black cabinets? A combination on upper and lower?  White in the kitchen and black in the china cabinet area?  I think the grey will go on the back of the glass cabinets as well. Will the black look strange as the crown continues around the room? Or should we go with a different shade of grey on the cabinets?
So many options.  I need some help. Let me know what you think.

I'm excited to announce that I've been included in this year's Boutique Design Magazine's Boutique 18  - 18 up and coming designers in the hospitality design world.  It's a huge honor, and I have to give a big Thank You to friend and Valley Forge rep Katy Daly for nominating me.   And thanks to everyone at Wilson Associates and throughout the industry for your support thus far in my career.  You can see the full article here.
