Personally, I'd keep this stuff out year-round, but that's just me.

Bryan's Birthday

Wednesday, October 22, 2014

I've been really bad lately about writing personal posts, relying mostly on my guest bloggers. That said, I know you guys love seeing what is going on at Nest Studio and in my own nest so I'm going to try a little harder. Most recently, we celebrated Bryan's third birthday. I can't believe that little guy is three. He is as obsessed (if not more so) with trains this year as he was last year so I decided to just go ahead and roll with it and do a train themed party again. That said, with a new baby and less time, I did a lot more outsourcing than I did last year at Bryan's second birthday, relying on Etsy for decorations (banner, welcome sign and toppers here and other cupcake toppers here) and friends and local food vendors for refreshments.  Here are some photos of the event.
Paperless post invite that set the theme.

And of course some action shots.

I've always wanted to live in two cities, New York and Paris. Like me, I'm sure most of you have dream locations for living and/or travel. Well, there is one way to satisfy those dreams right where you are, and it's through design.
This loft-style home with high ceilings could easily be located in New York, and the furnishings are luxuriously Parisian. Delicate legs on the furniture, gold trim on the home decor... This place just might get me as close as I can to NYC and Paris without actually going anywhere.

Whether it's that vacation you've been wanting to take or a new city you've wanted to live in, interior design makes it possible to create the environment you want right where you are!

Your work space should inspire you. It's design should be as original and interesting as the work you produce there.

This office above is a perfect example. Nothing matches, there's no predictability, yet it works. However, if you look really closely, you can tell the design was thought out and well curated. There's blue in the patchwork rug that relates to the art and some reds/pinks that tie in the red chair. Although the two accent chairs don't match, they're from the same mid-century modern background and always look good together.

Here's how to get the look...

Pendant / Bodie & Fou
Art / ZGallerie
Desk Chair / Zoetico
Task Light / YLighting
Desk / Hive Modern
Area Rug / Urban Outfitters
Rocking Chair / DWR
Accent Chair / Dot & Bo
Rocking Bird Accent / West Elm
Decorative Accent / ZGallerie
Bookshelves / Ikea
