Our Labor Day weekend was fun and relaxing. Dinner with friends, bagels and lox at the Hoboken waterfront overlooking the city, staying in for movie night and then culminating in a block party on our future block in Millburn. We met a lot of great neighbors and confirmed the fact that we are moving into a great neighborhood full of fun families and tons of kids. How did you spend your last official weekend of summer?

Now that we're settled in our temporary digs in Jersey City, I've been trying to get into some kind of routine with Bryan, usually involving a morning walk to run errands and a late afternoon jaunt out to the park across the street to look at the bunnies (I made the mistake of venturing out midday the other day only to become drenched in sweat and find that the swingset at the playground was too hot to use). Any tips out there from NYC moms on how to beat the heat and survive a 3rd floor walkup with a stroller?

New York in Instagrams
Wednesday, June 20, 2012
I apologize for the blog post dry spell. With the last week of work and then a week and a half in New York, there just wasn't time to get posts scheduled for each day I was away - and I didn't want to attempt to do any posting from my iphone - scary. I'm hoping to do better when we make the actual move now that I have a little more time on my hands to get stuff done in advance.
Whew. New York still lives up to its reputation. I am beat. Some whirlwind house hunting in Jersey. Lunches with friends in the city. Lugging a 20 lb porker and his accompanying gear and stroller up and down subway stairs. Braving the rain without one of those stroller covers (what's that? we don't use those in socal - plastic bag to the rescue!). Coming down with the stomach flu at my first visit to Scott's new office. Needless to say, I'm happy to be home and hoping to get a little rest in before I start all the packing and moving craziness. In the meantime here are some pics from our time in New York. Admittedly, I didn't really find much time to take photographs except for of Bryan. But you can see the amazing view of Manhattan from our summer sublet balcony (lucky for you, you can't smell the recycling facility just down the hill). Hope everyone is having a great week so far!

Weekend Instagram: Our House

A few instagram photos I took during our twilight photo shoot the other day as we get ready to put the house on the market.
Hello New York!
Monday, May 14, 2012
I took this photo this weekend out on a date for our 8th wedding anniversary. Based on the title of the post, one might think that I took this in Manhattan. In fact, we were in downtown LA. We stopped in at Perch for a roof top cocktail, had dinner at Baco Mercat on Main and dessert at Artisan House. That little pocket of Main Street in downtown had a definite New York vibe. The funny thing is that we seldom go to downtown LA for dinner and we just made a big decision to move back to the East Coast to the NY area. So it seemed ironic that we were just now discovering this New Yorky neighborhood in LA on the cusp of our big move. It's with mixed emotions that we leave our wonderful house, our amazing nanny, the beautiful LA weather, and all the friends we've made out here (although we know we will continue to see them). But we're very excited about this next stage and the opportunities that lay ahead. The Eagle's Nest will still continue as a blog. Just bear with me as I prep our house for sale, shuttle back and forth between LA and New York and deal with the logistics of moving an entire house, 7 month old baby, cat and cars from one coast to the other. And as luck would have it one of the places we are considering living in NJ has an "Eagle Rock Reservation" next to it. Need to find out more, but perhaps it was meant to be!

Since the Socal weather was so amazing, most of the weekend was spent outdoors swimming, lounging on the patio and having a great bloggers' meetup. Thanks to for coming everyone! Here are a few instagrams I snapped before hand. More photos and a complete lineup of all the fabulous attendees to follow.

Ah, things got away from me a bit this weekend, but here are some images of how our back yard is looking this spring.
