So I meant to do a little photo editing to create some slick boards for this post, but I don't have photoshop at the moment, and I wanted to give you at least one post for this week. Here are some of the florals I did (along with a fabulous team of helpers) for Cori's wedding. Lauren Nygard did the beautiful photography. The whole event was truly a collaborative effort and I think it turned out pretty fabulous.
Summer Harvest
Friday, July 22, 2011
Well, the beans didn't make it but the heirloom tomatoes are doing great thanks to the self-made compost I mixed in prior to planting.
Frents!
Wednesday, July 20, 2011
Our friends Ben and Melissa Oren just launched a new web series that they wrote called Frents. The concept is based on a group of friends that decides they can "rent" themselves out to those in need. It's witty and clever AND they used our house for filming. Take a look. Starting today, Fremantle will launch a new webisode every Tuesday for three consecutive weeks on their site, http://www.atomicwedgietv.com/.
Baby Shower
Tuesday, July 19, 2011
This past weekend I went up to Sonoma to host a baby shower for another pregnant friend (is it a coincidence that it's the year of the rabbit and everyone seems to multiplying as if they were rabbits?). It was a great time. The weather cooperated. The food was delicious. The decor held up and everyone had a great time. Here are some pics of the table settings I did.

Etsy Spotlight - Veronica Riley Martens
Friday, July 15, 2011
One of my fun designy friends out in Chicago put me on to her neighbor Veronica Riley Martens and her awesome jewelry. Her bold, colorful pieces are truly one-of-a-kind. The perfect addition to a summer wardrobe, one of her bib necklaces would look great with a simple solid maxi dress.
Baby's Room
Wednesday, July 13, 2011
So being a designer, friends are naturally wondering what my plans are for TBD's nursery. I admit, I haven't done much of anything yet, except think about what I might do. Between not wanting to jinx myself and now renovating our downstairs rec room to be a family room and guest quarters, I haven't really had the time. Now that the renovations are coming to a close though, the guest furniture can move downstairs making room for the nursery. There are some things we will not be changing in the room. The tobacco colored walls (also fondly referred to as "baby poop brown"), turquoise drapes, small chinese paintings, and large world map from IKEA will remain. This is more or less what the room looks like now:
Here are my thoughts on how we will do it up for baby. I bit of an animal theme, bright colors, clean modern and inexpensive furnishings (in the end baby doesn't appreciate quality and will rough everything up anyway), and a fun stencil on the ceiling for when he's laying in the crib.
Isak ABC Wall Boards, Retro Swedish Poster, Kobe Wall Stencil, Sprout Modern Hanging Art Mobile, IKEA Premiar World Map, IKEA Gulliver Crib, Vulli Sophie Giraffe Teether, Etsy Crip Bedding Set, LL Bean Cottage Stripe Rug, Ferm Living Octopus Cushion, Areaware Pico Orange Penguin Pillow, Ny Rocking Chair, IKEA Expedit Bookshelf, IKEA Nyvoll Dresser, Dwell Studio Elephant Picture Frame,

Jonathan Browning
Wednesday, July 6, 2011
Recently, while up on our Bay Area tour I had the pleasure of meeting with lighting design guru Jonathan Browning in his studio. Jonathan and partner Marco live and work in a fabulous loft in the South of Market area of the city. His work is showcased beautifully in the space. It was a great learning experience for me to sit down with Jonathan and discuss the ins and outs of lighting design (much of which applies to the hardware line I am designing). Jonathan is a true craftsman working with local forges and foundries to create his beautiful cast and machined brass fixtures. He sketches almost everything at full scale to make sure that every detail is taken care of and thought through. The finishing on his pieces is exquisite. Here is a photo of me and Jonathan in his loft by one of his eponymous sconces (unfortunately for me, Jonathan's loft is soon to be photographed for another design publication so I wasn't able to get any additional shots of the beautiful space).
And a sampling of some of his work:
His Richelieu Chandelier based on antique castings.
His Particuliere Sconce - I LOVE the glass on this piece.
His Shell Sconce- also based on a found object
And recently Jonathan was named Design Director of JT Kalmar Lighting. He has managed to rework and revive some of the pieces from their archives. The Zylinderzug Chandelier. The counterweight is vintage yet so current.

Table Scaping
Tuesday, July 5, 2011
Last week I stopped in at Tamara Kaye-Honey's South Pas shop House of Honey. She has so many great treasures in her space. I especially loved the artwork on display and some of the mid century modern furniture pieces. Amongst it all she had an amazing table scape. What a decadent dinner party this would be! Stay tuned for more on House of Honey coming up.
More Floral

Lately I've been a little bit bad about photographing my creatings. Here's a little peak at some of the centerpieces that I did (along with a talented team of coworkers) for the Wilson Foundation Point of Excellence Luncheon on Wednesday.
