Classic Sophisticated Dining Room

Wednesday, July 19, 2017

Morning all, Kate Cabiltes here!

I've been following Boston based interior designer and owner of dreamy home decor boutique HudsonJill Goldberg for a minute now. When Domino shared one of her recent dining room projects in an article on making a home your own, I couldn't resist featuring this stunner. Home to mid century lovers, this room was filled with iconic mid century nods along with polished staples like a marble Restoration Hardware table. The green drapery is the pop of color that this neutral space welcomes. A classic room with some modern updates, this spot would be a gem to entertain in.

Antoni Gaudi: Design Spotlight

Monday, July 17, 2017

It's Heather here with our Design Spotlight Monday! This week we are spotlighting the imaginative Catalan Art Nouveaux Architect, Antoni Gaudi.  Gaudi is revered as much for his highly individualized organic forms as for his complex understanding of geometry and structure.  His work is influenced by both nature and religion and largely transcends a single style or classification.

Throughly studying organic forms and geometry, Gaudi sought for innovative ways to express these forms in architecture.  He rarely drew two-dimensional detailed plans, but preferred designing in three-dimensional structural models and molding even the smallest detail as he conceived them.  Gaudi also involved himself in the details of all structural and ornamental elements.

Gaudi stood out equally as an interior designer.  Decorating most buildings personally from the furnishings to the smallest details, Gaudi was a prolific furniture, hardware and interior designer.  He considered detail and craft into his architecture including ceramics, stained glass, ironwork, and carpentry.

Martin Group SF: Design Crush

Monday, July 10, 2017

Heather Kilmer here with our Monday morning Nest Design Crush.  This week we are highlighting the chic interiors of Beth Martin of the Martin Group SF.  Martin has a knack for making modern interiors feel effortless.  "My work skews casual and bohemian," states Martin.

I love her soulful laid-back aesthetic juxtaposed with her eye for fine art.  Her neutral palette combined with luxurious wall treatments, exotic stone, personal treasures and art blend together to create a thoughtfully curated space.  Martin's intimate spaces have a genuine intimate, relaxed, and distinctively personal sensibility.

Artsy Living Room Haven

Friday, July 7, 2017

Hi, Kate Cabiltes here!

There are zillions of summer homes bringing me inspiration lately and this Hamptons beaut by designer Tamara Magel is a clear favorite. She reimagined this 12,600 square foot estate and executed a fabulous mid century modern update. Her plays with finishes and shapes is noteworthy as is her use of fun catchy artwork. My jaw dropped to the floor when I saw her living room. I love the use of this cheeky "Blah Blah Blah" artwork anchored by lots of neutral - but textured - furniture. What a stunning room this would be to entertain in after a day on the beach, no?!

Classic Series Install: Charter Lakes

Monday, July 3, 2017

Happy Monday, it's Heather here to highlight one of my favorite Nest Studio Classic Series installations.  Charter Lakes Properties, a custom home builder in the Park Cities area of Dallas, made all the right decisions in the millwork design for this custom home.  From the rich cabinet color, selecting satin brass oversized pulls, centering the pulls on the doors, to detailing the cabinet doors in satin brass, this built-in is absolutely stunning.  I just love the clean lined aesthetic in this room and how the cabinets are detailed.
