Alisa Rose Design: Nest Install
Monday, August 21, 2017
Happy Monday! It's Heather Kilmer here to highlight one of my favorite modern Nest Studio Facet Series installations. Toronto based designer, Alisa Rose, made restrained and thoughtful material choices for this modern kitchen. From the herringbone wood floor, the waterfall marble counter detailing, the walnut cabinetry to the stunning satin brass range hood and Nest Studio Facet Series pulls, this kitchen is absolute perfection. I just love Alisa Rose Design's clean aesthetic and meticulous detailing in this show stopping kitchen.
Chic Modern Master Bedroom
Wednesday, August 16, 2017
Hi all, it's Kate Cabiltes!
I spotted this beauty of a bedroom recently on my fave blog My Domaine recently and can't get my mind off of it. Designed by Cali based boho designer Amber Interiors, this master bedroom was transformed by her brilliant play of color and pattern. She smartly used a small neutral print wallpaper to downsize a gargantuan space and filled a good portion of the room with a large iron canopy bed. Texture was added through the denim love seat in front and the layered rugs, one natural and the other colorful and eclectic. Crisp modern elements like the arrow pendant and mid century modern night stands balance out those various patterns, causing the room to look cohesive yet playful.
Here's how to get the look in your bedroom...

DISC Interiors: Design Crush
Thursday, August 10, 2017
It's Heather here with our Nest Design Crush, the fabulous duo from DISC Interiors, Krista Schrock and David John Dick. DISC Interiors has mastered the science of designing interiors that age beautifully. Their designs are"broken-in" with age rather than become dated over time. They thoughtfully design for the natural evolution and weathering of materials. DISC states:
"We source material that transform with light and organic textures that patina gently like metals that burnish with touch, leathers that often, and floorboards that reveal more of a home's soul with every year."
I love this poetic approach to the ephemeral nature of interior materiality. While landscape architects and facade architects design with the notion of how time will change their design, it's not a consideration is often discussed in the interior design world.
The calibrated simplicity of DISC Interior's aesthetic produces balanced spaces with form, intent, function, and comfort. Their restrained palette of earthy tones, vintage finds and bespoke furniture, balance the function demands of modern life. Their homes feel contemporary, yet classic and familiar. Their subtlety curates an artful ease with modernity.

Bold Graphic Powder Room
Thursday, August 3, 2017
Hey, Kate Cabiltes here!
I recently saved a photo from an article on My Domaine, my daily go to for interior inspiration, which highlighted this beautiful powder room by interior designer Elizabeth Roberts. I fell in love with the bold use of color and pattern used in this traditional, likely older powder room. The contrasting colors of the mustard yellow and orange rug and the green of the wallpaper are fun together. The decor like the hanging pendant and the nude portrait add some personality and character without going over the top. And I'm convinced you can never go wrong painting a door black. Bottom line - I'm a huge fan!

Tamara Eaton Design: Design Crush
Tuesday, August 1, 2017
It's Heather here with our Design Crush for this week. . . the very chic Tamara Eaton. Tamara has a knack for an unexpected mixing of styles and for creating livable interiors that "stand the test of time." She seamlessly combines old and new, functional and artistic as well as multiple styles to create her eclectic design sensibility.
I love how her interiors have such a sense of timelessness and are highly personalized interiors that reflect her client's needs, history and taste. We just love the spaces this thoughtful designer creates.
