Since the Socal weather was so amazing, most of the weekend was spent outdoors swimming, lounging on the patio and having a great bloggers' meetup. Thanks to for coming everyone! Here are a few instagrams I snapped before hand. More photos and a complete lineup of all the fabulous attendees to follow.
Dining Delicacies
Thursday, April 26, 2012
Honestly, I'm not sure why I keep trying to do these alliterative post titles. Kind of silly, right? I swear "Dining Delicacies" is my last one and I'm on to more sophisticated and mature post names. In any case, I've shown you the Master Bedroom and Family Room that I helped my friends with. The dining space is the final area that they asked me to give them ideas for. They'd bought this beautiful table and chairs from Restoration Hardware and specifically requested a flocked damask wallpaper, so it was a pretty easy space to do (don't you love clients that know what they want?). The rest was just a matter of creating some drama with dark walls and having some simple drapery that doesn't compete. I think it works nicely with the other two "rustic industrial chic" spaces that we've created thus far.

Jaime's Playdate Perfection
Today my old friend Jaime from Less on the Floor is sharing a great casual-but-stylish mom outfit with us. Thanks Jaime. Take it away:
This is my go-to Casual Friday for that winter-spring transition. Plus a machine-washable dress now that I'm feeding the baby solid food! I like the desert boots with a little heel, but flat would be cute too -- and better for chasing around the playground. :-)

Jess's Fetes: A Bohemian Birthday
Tuesday, April 24, 2012
Jess Houlemard is back again to share some shots for her most recent fete. She put together a casual bohemian camp inspired movie-night for her sister Nicoles' 30th birthday party. Even though the event got rained on people had a great time. She used thrift store finds such as antique lanterns and collected floral sheets to create the vibe of la vie boheme, and used warehouse stacking palettes tons of throw pillows and cushions and low candle lighting with strings of lights overhead for a fun seating area for movie time. Cusine included pizza, mac n cheese bites, egg rolls, potato balls, popcorn and s’mores
rounding out the comfort “Movie Night” theme. Great job Jess!

I mentioned a couple weeks ago that I was helping some new homeowner friends with their Master Bedroom. Well I've done some concepting for their Family Room as well. Rustic Industrial chic as well.

Blogger Style Challenge: Emily's Elegant Attire
Wednesday, April 18, 2012
Hello all! I'm Emily from Recently, here to share an outfit that will have any new mommy going back to work in style!
I think a new mom should definitely try to invest in some key pieces that will make her feel gorgeous, but at the same time be forgiving and figure flattering. She can add color with accessories, and find a bag that will hold all of her essentials, which somehow multiply once a little one is in the picture! Above all, she should go easy on herself for a while. It takes time to get used to this job we call motherhood. I'm not sure I'm used to it yet, even after eight years!!

Gallery Wall
Tuesday, April 17, 2012
I'm so awful when it comes to photographs. I take them. They end up on my computer. But I definitely suffer from one of the problems of the digital age in that I never print my photos or make albums out of them. So recently I took it upon myself to create a gallery wall. By recently I mean I started collecting the frames from IKEA and various estate sales about a year ago and have very gradually found items to fill them. And a couple of weekends ago I finally got around to hanging the pieces in the stairwell. I'm not a perfectionist so I just sort of laid out the frames on the ground and did everything by eye. The results are not bad. Maybe need to fill in a few holes with some more photos but I'm liking the combination of gold and white frames. Have a look see. And yes, those are Micro Machines in that there shadow box.

And remember that poster from Etsy from my Valentines Day post? Well, I got it for Scott and framed it.

Had a fun week and weekend. Drinks and learning at Kneedler Fauchere at the PDC. A visit to the Arts Refoundry in Downtown LA (where I photographed the cacti, airstream and double decker bus) with some potential for partnership on the hardware line. A culinary tour of Eagle Rock including Larkins, Cacao and Casa Bianca. And a MAJOR chop of the hair (bottom two photos).

New Friday Series: Art that looks like Interiors that look like Art
Friend and fellow designer Lauren Stern is going to be helping me out with a new Friday series called Art that looks like interiors that look like Art. Lauren is a super talented New York based designer and her work has been featured on Apartment Therapy. Can't wait to see all the great pairings she comes up with. Welcome Lauren!
Hi Eagle's Nest readers! I'm excited to be over here sharing my Art / Interiors blog posts. What made me come up with a whole series (and a whole blog) devoted to art that inspires interiors and vice versa? There are many many FABULOUS interiors blogs out there. So I wanted to create something with a specialized angle. And nothing inspires me more than ART! I look at interiors photos for work all day and it felt so natural to pair gorgeous interior shots with inspiring pieces of art. I love researching my favorite artists & designers! And this has turned out to be such an incredibly fun outlet for me. I hope you enjoy these posts as much as I've enjoyed creating them.

Blogger Style Challenge: Emily's Ensemble
Thursday, April 12, 2012
Today we have Emily, from Running in Heels here for the Blogger Style Challenge. Take it away Emily:
I'm so thrilled to participate in the Style Challenge. I don't have any kids, but have close friends with some of the cutest babies you've ever seen, so in a small way. I feel like I've gotten to participate in the fun:)
I'd like to offer you new moms a bit of empowerment as you begin this fabulous stage in your life - Don't forget about yourself! Wear something that makes you happy and makes you smile just a little bit...something fun! Of course your baby is absolutely beautiful, and nothing compliments your radiant glow like a fun new outfit.
Some great items to have:
A loose and forgiving, yet simply pretty dress; red lipstick to make you feel alert even when you're not; a bold statement necklace; a trendy bag to carry around everything for yourself and your new baby (diaper bags don't have to look childish); fabulous shoes; and socks for a little touch of whimsy.
I hope you enjoy my picks, or are inspired to find your own that make you feel so very special. Thanks again to Jess for inviting me!
xo.

{Pinterest} Patterns
Tuesday, April 10, 2012
Hi all. I've been on Pinterest for a while but haven't really actively been sharing with you all of my great finds on pinterest and fun things I've pinned from other websites. You can certainly follow me on pinterest to see all of my boards, but for those of you who are just not into yet another form of social media, I thought I'd give you a peek every once in a while into what I've been pinning. Today I'm sharing a bunch of fun patterns that I've discovered.
Clockwise from top Left: Pierre Frey Kubus Fabric (i've been hoarding away a memo of this fabric forever - one day I will use it on a project). Abstract bird on a wire From Fiberfool. Love these Breeze Block photos by SW Walsh. Luli Sanchez dots. A graphic gold, black and white by Vavara Stepanova. And from Linconl Taft's Art Board

We made a trip to Descanso Gardens with puo-puo (Chinese for grandma) to see the Camelias, Lilacs, and Cherry trees in bloom. The weather was glorious and Bryan enjoyed touching all the different kinds of foliage and seeing the bright flowers.
Friday Fancies: Flower Power
Friday, April 6, 2012
This week's Friday Fancies theme is flower power. If you're on pinterest or looking at any fashion / style blogs I'm sure you've noticed blooms everywhere. Granted, I'm not really one for florals, but a fun kicky short paired with stripes and other classic solid pieces is something I could go for.

Living Room Transformation
Thursday, April 5, 2012
You guys know I've been fretting over my living room for a while. It's a big space and it's hard to get right. I purchased a really cool rug a while back but it just isn't doing the trick and it's way too colorful for the originally more muted palette I'd had planned. I like drama but more in the form of high contrast than in bold color. So I did a little photoshopping to see what our living room could look like if I made a few changes over time. It's like a game of Where is Waldo. Can you spot the change at each step along the way?

[4] Changing the rug to this Dash and Albert option (graphic and well priced)
[5] Changing out the caned chairs seats to a grey color (probably would do a pattern in reality)
[6] Painting the coffee table black (I think an antique mirror top would be fabulous but I'm not that skilled at photoshop)
